Honsbridge International School was founded in 2008 by Ms Emma Hon and Mr Dom Hon, who believe in the following:
- To empower students through leadership and participation in a variety of competitions and events.
- To cultivate a strong sense of curiosity to learn, be proactive and have a positive attitude.
- To mould well-rounded individuals with an outstanding record of extracurricular activities and academic excellence.
Located in the heart of Kota Damansara with a humble beginning of just 5 students in a single shop lot, Honsbridge has since grown from strength to strength with over 250 students and a campus spanning approximately 56,000 sq ft across 6 floors. Our facilities include our science and computer labs, dance studio, cosy canteen area, multipurpose hall as well as access to the sports centre with 10 badminton courts, 4 futsal courts and a half basketball court.
Ms Emma Hon, Honsbridge’s First Principal was inspired by the time she and her siblings spent in Singapore, where her parents sent them to study IGCSE to build what was first known as Honsbridge Academy. She dreamt of a day where a similar programme would be offered in Malaysia so that more children would have the same opportunities that she and her own siblings were afforded due to the foresight and willingness of their parents.
This dream of hers grew and grew, until it one day became an ambition to start a school that would provide an internationally recognised, first class education in Malaysia. Many discouraged her and told her that such a programme was not feasible and would not be popular in Malaysia as it was a far cry from the standard National Curriculum offered.
After graduating from the National University of Singapore in 2001 with a Bachelor of Merit in Chemistry, she pursued several opportunities overseas including teaching in Singapore before returning to Malaysia to make her dreams a reality with her siblings in 2008. Ms Emma taught Maths and Science to her students at Honsbridge on top of her duties as the Principal supported by Mr Dom as the Vice Principal and Business Studies teacher together with a group of other teachers committed to bringing out the best in their students.
Our students benefit not only from outstanding academics but also from a nurturing environment that gives them the time and space to develop as individuals and to prepare themselves for the challenges ahead. To this day Ms Emma and Mr Dom continue to be involved in Honsbridge as our Governor and Chairman of the Board. They continue to keep in touch with our graduates and parents of our alumni.
As educators, it is always our greatest wish to see our students succeed in life. Our motto “Building Bridges, Exceeding Expectations” illustrates the Honsbridge ethos and our desire to equip our students with the skills they need to be successful in whatever they choose to do.
