STAFF TRAINING 2020
By Miss Teoh Xiu Jong
John F. Kennedy once said: “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” As a result, all teachers of Honsbridge International were required to attend Staff Training from 14 to 16 December 2020.
Throughout the 3-day training, all teachers were given the opportunity to share their knowledge that they have gained from enrolling into various online courses. Various topics ranging from conducting effective lessons, both physical and online, to handling emotions were presented. Towards the end of the sharing session, all teachers were required to complete a short quiz with multiple questions related to the online courses’ presentation. Through such activity, teachers had the chance to recap their knowledge on everything that was shared.
Besides that, many Management personnel have taken their precious time to be involved in the same training.
Acting Principal, Miss Hang, has explained about the Academic Calendar for 2021. Tentative programmes and important dates were highlighted during the session, allowing necessary actions to be taken.
Program Leader Assistant, Mr Tan, has shared with all teachers on their respective Teaching Timetable effective January 2021. With that, all teachers will have ample time to prepare top-grade lesson materials when the students return from their holiday break in the following month.
Secondary Division Leader, Miss Sarah Chow, and Primary Division Leader, Miss Christina, have discussed with all teachers on how to be a better homeroom and subject teacher. At Honsbridge International, we provide continuous support and encouragement to all our students with hopes that they can achieve their goals throughout their academic years with us.
In line with the increasing cases of COVID-19 whereby most lessons are conducted virtually in 2020, Miss Izyani has emphasised the importance of taking care of laptops to teachers. It is of no doubt that teachers are using their respective laptops heavily throughout the period to conduct lessons and prepare materials for the benefit of all Honsbridge International students.
Gregory Balestrero, Project Management Institute CEO emeritus and an American industrial engineer, claimed that: “Employees cannot become more productive in every sense of the word unless they are provided with continuous on-the-job training.” With that, Honsbridge International hopes that all teachers have benefited greatly from the training conducted and will be even more productive when the new year comes!
